[読みたい論文] 温和な条件下で進行するレゾルシノール類のKolbe−Schmitt反応

塩基の存在下でのフェノールと二酸化炭素からサリチル酸が生成するKolbe−Schmitt反応、有機化学の教科書でも取り上げげられるほどの有名な人名反応の一つです。

この論文の売りは、有機塩基を使ってレゾルシノール類と二酸化炭素の反応を実現したところでしょうか。Supporting informationには有機塩基としてDBUを使った一般的な実験操作が記述されており、種々の塩基を試した実験例が本文中にあるのか、気になるところです。DBUを使うに至った経緯を知りたいということです。

そして反応の位置選択性。Kolbe−Schmitt反応ではフェノールのOH基の結合する炭素の隣の炭素と二酸化炭素が結合するのですが、レゾルシノールの場合は二酸化炭素と反応しそうな芳香環の炭素が2箇所以上あるわけです。それら2箇所以上の反応点のうち特定の箇所だけ二酸化炭素とくっつくのはなんでなのかなと、これも知りたいところです。主生成物だけ単離した訳ではなさそうですし。分子軌道からも考察がなされてはいるようですが。

とまあ、シンプルな反応故に気になるところもたくさんあり、読みたい論文に追加しました。反応後の希塩酸処理、要るかなぁ。
